World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1999, "with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard".^[1] Its purpose is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world and, as the original UNESCO declaration says, to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements".

It was generally celebrated in October, but in the latter part of the 20th century the world community celebrated it on the 15th, the birthday of Virgil, the Roman epic poet and poet laureate under Augustus. The tradition to keep an October date for national or international poetry day celebrations still holds in many countries.^[2] The United Kingdom generally uses the first Thursday in October,^[3] but elsewhere a different October, or even sometimes a November date, is celebrated.

19 Març: DIA DEL PARE – What about FATHER’S DAY in UK?

La diada de Sant Josep, el 19 de març, és el dia en el qual se celebra el dia del pare,

A Catalunya, és tradició aquest dia menjar crema cremada, que per aquest motiu s'anomena també crema de Sant Josep. En canvi, a molts països catòlics el 19 de març, Dia de Sant Josep, és un gran esdeveniment. Sant Josep era el pare de Crist, d'aquí que s'hagi escollit aquest dia per celebrar el Dia del Pare.

A Espanya el dia 19 de març també se celebra el Dia del Pare i és un dia molt important. Es felicita als pares i també a les persones que es diuen Josep o Josepa. Aquestes felicitacions a vegades van acompanyades de petits regals, encara que normalment es donen postals i aquest dia se celebra la família.

S'ha de destacar la celebració que es fa a València, on les falles són l'element festiu més destacable. Les falles són monuments o escultures artístiques, satíriques o grotesques sobre qualsevol cosa, persona, esdeveniment, etc., prou desafortunat per cridar l'atenció dels ulls crítics dels fallers. Totes les escultures són cremades la nit de Sant Josep, excepte l'anomenat «ninot indultat», que es lliura de les flames.

Ja hem començat la unitat 6 i per continuar treballant aquesta unitat us he preparat tot un seguit de feines que podreu realitzar tranquil·lament des de la vostra casa.

Tot seguit començarem a treballar tots els skills d’ aquesta unitat. Comencem per vocabulari.

VOCABULARY:

Els punts de vocabulari d’ aquesta unitat son els següents:

-       Environament verbs

-       Technology adjectives

-       Winter sports

-       Compound nouns

Per tal de treballar el vocabulari de la unitat anirem al workbook a les pàgines 104 i 105. Allí trobareu la “vocabulary reference” i la “vocabulary practice”. Recordeu que ara sí podreu fer servir la VOC APP (no estem a classe esteu a casa J).

La resta d’ activitats a treballar les trobareu al workbook a les pàgines 48,50 i 52.

GRAMMAR:

La gramàtica a aquesta unitat està lligada amb la veu passiva. Per poder entendre i treballar aquest punt gramatical anirem al workbook a les pàgines 106 i 107. A la pàgina 106 trobareu la teoria per entendre perfectament aquest punt gramatical, i a la 107 trobareu les activitats per fer.

Aprofito també per deixar-vos les “grammar animations” que sempre veiem a classe abans de treballar cadascun dels punts gramaticals.

READING COMPREHENSION:

A aquesta unitat treballarem el text del Student’s book p. 74 “Green Fashion” per tal de treballar la comprensió lectora. Cal llegir el text i fer les activitats 1,2 i 3. Contestar a les activitats a un full apart.

SPEAKING

Per tal de treballar la part oral us faig la següent proposta:

Com sabeu a aquesta unitat hem treballat ja la part del Practical English: Talking about food.

Ja hem fet la part escrita dissenyant el nostre menú i també a un dels dos grups ha fet la pràctica oral “AT THE RESTAURANT”. Si encara no heu presentat el menú o no heu fet el speaking recordeu preparar-ho aquests dies.

La proposta per aquesta part és enregistrar un vídeo (molts ja sou experts gravant vídeos) fent una recipe (recepta de cuina). Podeu fer el vídeo en família si voleu (recordeu que hem de menjar i estem tancats a casa) crec que podria ser força divertit. Tot lo que parleu, recordeu que haurà de ser explicat en anglès.
